To teach youth life skills to positively impact their attitudes toward becoming productive adults in society.

GEMS Objectives

Women of Colors established programming that consist of several youth mentoring programs that includes the following:


Girl Pride (Est. 1998)
Sugar & Spice (Est. 2002)
​Young Men Who Dare (Est. 2006)

SVRC/Learn 2 Earn Academy

Mobile Mentoring - Sites included Int;l. Academy Saginaw, North Saginaw Charter Academy, Sophisticated LaDivas & God's Creation Dance Group


We work to create and instill values of respect and accountability with each participant.


GEMS include monthly mentoring sessions and one day workshops that inspire and empower youth.  WOC aims to provide community support to youth and parents to enhance family living.

  • Provide life skills, leadership training
  • Promote community service support
  • Prepare and challenge youth to be responsible peer leaders and positive role models
  • Identify gifts, talents and skills of each participant


This curriculum is an investment in youth and families that can be utilized as a model in other communities.

  • Assist child with following program objectives
  • Support program sessions and activities

  • Participate and/or plan GEMS Annual Parent Workshop
  • Attend Parent Committee Meetings
  • Volunteer (as needed)

Parent Responsibility
